Education
Dr. Didi pursued his early studies in physics at Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fez, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Physics followed by a Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering. He later completed a Ph.D. in Materials Science for Energy and Environment from the same institution in 2017, focusing on the intersection of nuclear applications, energy research, and environmental sustainability. His passion for nuclear research led him to pursue a second doctoral degree, this time in Nuclear Physics and Applications, which he successfully completed at Université Mohammed Premier in Oujda in 2023. This dual academic training provided him with a multidisciplinary foundation that allows him to integrate nuclear techniques with environmental studies, radiation protection, and medical physics.
Research Interests
Throughout his career, Dr. Didi has developed broad and deep research interests in nuclear and medical physics. His work is strongly centered on medical and industrial radiation protection, nuclear physics applications, and environmental radiation analysis. He is highly regarded for his expertise in Monte Carlo simulation methods using codes such as MCNP6, PHITS, OpenMC, and GEANT4/TOPAS, which he has applied extensively in dosimetry, spallation physics, and radiation transport studies. He has also made valuable contributions to nuclear medicine through his research on radioisotope production and its applications. His investigations into radiological risks in soils, water, and environmental samples across Morocco have highlighted important safety considerations for both human health and environmental protection. His research approach combines theoretical modeling with applied solutions, ensuring that his findings have practical value in healthcare, energy, and industrial sectors.
Academic Positions
Dr. Didi has held important academic and research appointments that reflect both his expertise and leadership. Since 2025, he has been serving as an Associate Professor at the Higher Institute of Health Sciences, Hassan First University in Settat, where he teaches advanced courses in radiation protection and medical physics while also supervising graduate-level research projects. Prior to this position, from 2019 to 2024, he worked as a researcher in nuclear physics at the National Center for Nuclear Science and Technology (CNESTEN) in Rabat. During his tenure there, he contributed to major national projects in nuclear techniques, isotope production, reactor analysis, and radiological safety. In addition to his teaching and research, Dr. Didi has taken on influential roles in academic publishing and international collaboration. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of Atoms for Peace: An International Journal (Scopus-indexed) and the International Journal of Power and Energy Conversion. He also chaired the ICASIN2025 International Conference in Kenitra, which brought together global experts in medical physics and radiation protection. Over the years, he has participated in more than thirty international conferences as a program committee member, reviewer, or advisor, further establishing his reputation as a respected figure in the global nuclear science community.
